This is one of the repeat patterns which I have created in adobe photoshop. The photo on the right is the original image which I took in the Manchester museum as a you can see I have manipulated and rotated the image several times and have layered them together to create a new image and pattern.

These are some work for my visual log book.
The one on the far left is a wax resist done on tissue with bleach.

For the other one I used bubble wrap with white ink to print the background and some paper cuttings to get the details down.

Random Drawing Project

This is another joint project by myself and Iona Ludlow, we decided to work together because we found our styles work well together and we could each give each other encouragement when we got stuck.

Iona came up with the idea of using The Financial Times as inspiration, we decided to make a collage of images, mostly the faces of politicians and try to turn them into something different.
Once we had made the collage we used a projector to enlarge it, we then used a mixture of marker pens, water colours and inks to create a abstract piece.

Visual Research Trial & Error

These are some of my visual research trails.
The green chalk pastel is an actual rubbing taken from MOSI.
The others are ones where I tried to translate the same subject but in different media.

group shadow drawing

These are pics taken from our shadow drawing lesson.
We used a variety of jewellery, lace and traces on acetate of photos taken from our recent museum visit.
Overall we were really pleased with the overall result.

a few new pics

This is some of my work from the last trip to Manchester, Using photoshop I tried to create a repeat pattern using imagery from the elephant/ mammoth skeleton. I then used bleach, wax, ink with salt and chalk in the black and white images to try and capture the smooth structure and diverse texture of the bones. I really like the effect of ink and salt because there is a different result every time. I used it again in the blue image to depict the intense blue of the egyptian figures, then used oil pastel for a little more definition.

CAD

I created this image using photographs I took at the museum visits. I then developed a design using an illustration I found in a book.

I then used skills I learnt in CAD to create a brush with my design.

Shadow Drawing

To complete this brief myself and Iona decided to do a group piece. Working on large scale paper on the wall, we projected drawings we had done individually on acetate, we then put them together, to make a scene. We decided that using charcoal and marker pen together created a nice effect, although we may add colour later on.
